“A Glimpse of the Future” is a project that offers the audience a small window into what the world might look like 500 years from now. Its purpose is to build a connection between the present and the future by providing a glimpse of what is to come. As an artist and graphic designer, I believe that society is heading towards a dystopian future, which inspired me to create something unsettling and borderline disturbing. With the Augmented Reality experience I wanted to create an experience that allows viewers to question the status quo and explore potential futures.

The images in this project deliverable represent three areas in which humans are making significant advancements: interplanetary space travel, artificial intelligence, and weapons of mass destruction. While these advancements are currently being made in the hopes of improving the human race, I wanted to critique and warn about how they may ultimately lead to our downfall.

All of the components in this project were created in-house, utilizing the tools and resources available at Boston University College of Fine Arts and the greater Boston University campus. The frames were constructed in the CFA woodshop, and the acrylic was engraved using the BU EPIC laser cutter. This project represents how far I have come as a designer embracing craft and utilizing variety of tools fiverging from the tradiotional graphic design deliverables to execute my vision.
